In his keynote speech, Mr. Shuichi Sugahisa, Director General of the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), spoke on the theme of \u201cJFTC\u2019s recent activities for the digital sector\u201d introducing the JFTC\u2019s market surveys, recent enforcement action in the digital field, and other activities.<\/p>\n Next, Dr. Ginger Jin, Professor at the University of Maryland and former Director of the Bureau of Economics at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, gave a presentation on \u201cLessons from data regulations: The implications of GDPR on businesses\u201d. Mr. Hiroki Habuka, Deputy Director for Global Digital Governance at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), gave a presentation on \u201cAgile Governance: A framework to boost Data Innovation\u201d. Dr. Kensuke Kubo, UTEcon\u2019s Chief Economist and Associate Professor at Keio University, gave a presentation on \u201cThe role of data in the retail industry: An economic assessment\u201d based on a report recently released by UTEcon.<\/p>\n The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Yasutora Watanabe, Director of UTEcon and Professor of the University of Tokyo, with Dr. Jin Ginger, Mr. Hiroki Habuka, and Dr. Kensuke Kubo as panelists. The discussion was held under the topic of \u201cOur challenges for social implementation of data innovation and competition\u201d.
